This Weekend: William Ransom Physic Garden Open Day

Take a tour of the Physic Garden at Paynes Park to discover the potted history of Hitchin and the local area. Open to the public with free entry this Saturday 15th July.

William Ransom Physic Garden Open Day

The Physic Garden, located within the grounds of the former Hitchin Museum at Paynes Park, is a beautiful garden that is completely maintained and run by volunteers. This Saturday 15th, it will open its doors to the public for a FREE open day, inviting everyone to come and meet the volunteers.

The garden is divided into four different sections, each with its own unique style and charm: Household, the William Ransom Border, External Ailments, and Internal Ailments. The Physic Garden holds a rich herbal past and the open day will be a fantastic opportunity to learn all about Hitchin’s history with herb doctors and apothecaries.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the day will allow visitors to meet the gardeners and experts, ask questions about the plants and just enjoy some fresh air as you walk around the garden. It’s a great day out for the whole family, and will be of particular interest to flower or herb enthusiasts.
