Get an introduction to floral arrangements with Catherine Holness from the Hitchin Flower Arranging Club tomorrow night at Church House in Hitchin…

Hitchin Flower Arranging Club

The Hitchin Flower Arranging Club presents a unique evening of music and flowers, led by expert Catherine Holness. The theme of the demonstrations is based on the many similarities between music and flowers. According to Catherine, there are many words in music that are also used to describe the elements of floral design. For example, words such as “dominance”, “rhythm” and “harmony” have significant meaning in both areas.

As a result, Catherine’s demonstrations have been heavily inspired by things such as manuscript paper and musical notation. In the past, she has created a treble clef made from dried wisteria stems bound with ivy leaves. And tomorrow night, she will be showcasing some of her beautiful floral arrangements for enthusiasts or beginners looking for ideas, inspiration or practical guidance.

Her arrangements often feature assorted greenery to design a variety of shapes and textures, and she combines different types of flowers or foliage with everything from elegant roses and white orchids to lilies, chrysanthemums, hypericum berries and sea holly.

The demonstration will be £6.50 and includes refreshments. A raffle will also be available on the night.
