HItchin Town FC - Weekly Bulletin

HItchin Town FC - Weekly Bulletin

| by Roy Izzard | Posted in Hitchin Sport

Saturday 7 April  home to Frome  league  kick off 3.00pm.

Monday 9 April  home to Hereford league  kick off 7.45pm.

We will make our third attempt to play the League Cup final with Didcot on Wednesday 18 April at Top Field kick off 7.45pm after the postponement on Wednesday.

The Ladies did not play last Sunday and are next in action on Sunday 15 April.

The Academy side game at Brentford Griffins was postponed on Wednesday. They play Kings Langley on Wednesday 11 April at the arena kick off 1.00pm.

Much has been said and written about the Tiverton game. The Club issued a formal apology for what happened and the promised investigation is already underway. We are determined to be seen as a true community club.

The charity match for Sport Relief featuring Hitchin Boys School, Hitchin Girls School and Priory School which had to be postponed recently because of a waterlogged pitch has been rearranged for Wednesday 11 April at Top Field.

It starts at  5.00pm and finishes at 9.00pm. Entrance is £2.

Congratulations to Kate Deller and her helpers for making Saturday's Women at the Game event so successful. We had 110 female supporters present and Kate has had positive feedback despite the fracas on the pitch. We hope more female supporters will be seen at Top Field in the future.

You will have seen on the main website that we have passed our ground grading and will not be reassessed until 2021. A great deal of work was carried out and the cost will exceed £6,000. Our Supporters Club have donated £3,000 towards this which was a great gesture.

The safety of the  wooden terracing was of concern to the ground grading officials and they asked for a professional survey to be undertaken. We had this done and as a result had to replace any wood that was considered unsafe. Our wooden terracing is obviously synonymous with Top Field and we are pleased that despite any wooden terracing being frowned upon by the powers that be ours has now passed stringent safety tests and will continue to attract ground hoppers to our historic home.

Brett Donnelly misses the Frome game after receiving a three match suspension for his sending off against Tiverton. He will also miss the games against Hereford and Kettering.

Lucas Kirkpatrick is still recovering from a knee injury and is unlikely to play against Frome.

Robbie Burns is still suffering from a calf injury and will face a fitness test before the Frome game.

Elliot Bailey is still recuperating from his recent knee injury and it is not certain when he will return.

Jack Green successfully came through his return at Kings Langley on Monday.
