Hitchin Town FC Weekly Bulletin 6th July

Hitchin Town FC Weekly Bulletin 6th July

2018-07-10
| by Roy Izzard | Posted in Hitchin Sport

After what seems a very short break the bulletin returns this week. I will produce a bulletin each week from now on and Mark Burke’s manager’s notes will return next week.

FIXTURES

Friday 6 July home to Luton Town friendly kick off 7.00pm. Normal prices apply. There will be a proper programme for this game.

Tuesday 10 July home to Boreham Wood friendly kick off 7.30pm. This is a pay what you want match. There will not be a programme for this game.

We would once again like to thank Luton Town for agreeing to come to Top Field on what will be their first game of the season. They are bringing their full first team squad and there will be no youth players as they are on tour.

As ever Stuart Hammonds has done a great job in advertising the game on Luton’s social media outlets and he really is a great friend and supporter of Hitchin Town FC while manager Nathan Jones has been very complimentary about us. We really value our excellent relationship with Luton and wish them every success this season.

Boreham Wood are also bringing their first team squad to Top Field after just missing out on promotion to the Football League.

NEW TURNSTILE ARRANGEMENTS 2018-19

A new season starts.and with it comes our new online ticketing system, selling season tickets and match day admission tickets.

To better accommodate entry to the ground, we will be arranging entries through our turnstiles in a set way. Below the arrangements are set out, along with pricing and other conditions of sale of which all visitors to Top Field need to be aware, so as to ensure quicker and smoother entry to the ground.

In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to alter these arrangements, but in general the arrangements set out below will apply:

TURNSTILE A – Complimentary passes
Entry for away team officials, match officials, scouts, sponsors , mascots, media and anyone else who has been granted a complimentary match day pass by the Club. Generally Turnstile A will not handle cash sales.

TURNSTILE B – Season tickets and pre-paid online tickets
All season tickets and match day tickets purchased online need to enter the ground via Turnstile B only, to ensure validation of their pass or ticket(s). Cash sales will be available at this turnstile at times if queueing becomes apparent, but Turnstile C should generally be used for cash sales.

TURNSTILE C – Matchday cash sales
Turnstile C will handle cash sales only. It will not handle any complimentary or online pass or ticket entries – holders of these should go to the correct turnstile as detailed above.

Match Day turnstile prices are as follows:

Adults £12
Concessions £8 (Over 60, Student over 20 with ID card, Registered Disabled (accompanying carer free).
Young Persons £2 (13-19 inclusive)
Under 13s accompanied by an Adult FREE
Over 80s FREE

Unaccompanied under 13s will not be permitted entry to the ground.

PLEASE NOTE:
It is strongly recommended, in all cases, that you carry and are able to produce evidence of your eligibility for reduced price entry. The Club will ask for production of this evidence in all cases where there might be reasonable doubt as to someone’s eligibility for reduced price entry.

In such cases where this is asked for, and the person is unable to produce proof of eligibility, they will be offered entry at the full adult price or, in the case of unaccompanied Under 13s where safety and insurance are a risk, entry will have to be refused.

ONLINE PRICES

Pre-paid online tickets carry a £1 reduction with adult tickets being £11 and concession tickets £7. To buy online go to https://hitchintownfc.ktckts.com/ Tickets are available up to 8.00pm the night before a game.

BARRY REVELS

Everybody at the club was saddened to hear that long term Hitchin supporter Barry Revels passed away last Saturday. He regularly attended home game with his sons and also went to a number of away games. Barry was also a Luton Town supporter so it is appropriate that the club will hold a minute’s applause in memory of Barry before Friday’s game with Luton. The funeral is at 4.00pm on Tuesday 10 July at the new crematorium near Holwell.

Mark Burke knew Barry well and enjoyed chatting to him at Top Field and The Arena and personally wanted to send his condolences to the family.

NEW DAY FOR MIDWEEK GAMES

After several seasons of playing our midweek games on Monday evenings this season we will be playing on Wednesday evenings. This is not because the Monday experiment was considered a failure. Indeed it was a great success both on and off the pitch with increased attendances and good results. But preparing pitches for Monday evenings was a real problem for our volunteer ground staff who were having to work weekends to get the necessary work done. Mark Burke had a meeting with the ground staff in the close season and agreed to move our midweek evening to Wednesday to help them out. This will still mean we will be one of only a handful of fixtures being played (as most teams will still play Tuesday) so again we will hopefully gain additional supporters just like we did on Mondays. It will also allow Mark to hold some Monday training sessions at Top Field rather than at the Arena which will help his team preparations as he will have more space in which to work.

TRIALISTS

As usual at this time of the year we have been inundated with players wanting trials to see if they good enough to join us. Mark has arranged a couple of training games to see what the trialists have to offer. There was a game with Biggleswade United under 23s on Wednesday and there will be a further game with Sandridge Rovers on Wednesday 18 July at the Arena kick off 6.45pm. Obviously if any of the trialists impress, Mark will then consider using them in our first team friendlies.

MARK BURKE

Due to attending a family funeral Mark will probably only get to Top Field after the kick off for tonight’s game with Luton. Adam Parker will be in charge in Mark’s absence.
